                                                               The Musmate Walking Aid
For many people, foot drop is a serious walking problem which handicaps their mobility and limits their working and social lives. Existing devices for drop foot have their limitations, and so the Musmate Ankle Foot Orthosis was developed to better meet the needs of patients. This AFO uses the action of an elastic cord to correct the foot drop and so make walking easier.

When you place your foot on the ground, it stretches the cord. Then, as you lift your leg to move forward, your shoulders will support the lifting and moving forward of your foot. It is a very natural and easy movement. You can easily and quickly adjust the amount of support and height of the foot lift (for obstacles and uneven ground) to best meet your needs and eliminate the effects of the drop foot.

Minimising the drop foot and making walking easier means that people will walk to a greater extent, which makes them fitter and stronger. This in turn further improves their walking (see Medical Results). Other benefits include stronger muscles, better posture, and reduced trips and falls.
