Webbing with Ladderloc

The cheapest and simplest way of joining webbing in an adjustable fashion is to use a ladderloc adjuster. This has the big advantage of cheapness- there is one one piece of plastic and one sewing operation. There are however a few disadvantages. The first is that it is more fiddly- you have to thread the end of the webbing through the ladderloc. Secondly, the ladderloc is controlled by the angle of the clip -if it is knocked, then the adjuster can loosen. Finally there is a loose end which could potentially get tangled in equipment or be a tripping hazard.

Webbing with Front Release Clip & Triglide Adjuster

This is a slightly more costly design which uses a triglide to control the length of the webbing in conjunction with a push-button release clip. This is more expensive because of the two components and the extra sewing involved but has several advantages. Firstly there is no loose end to become entangled in equipment or be a tripping hazard. Secondly the connection is easier; you simply bring the two ends of the clip together and close. Opening the strap is as simple as pressing the button. Finally it is more difficult to accidently release the clip since the button has to be pressed. This design of clip is very discreet, but this does come at strength- this clip is the easiest one to break.

Webbing with Triglide & Side Release

The final type of product uses the triglide and side release buckle. This is the most expensive option, due to the cost of the buckle but equally, it is the most robust. Agai there is no loose end to tangle or trip up. The action of the side release, where you press in the two sides of the buckle to open, means that accidental release is virtually impossible.
